Anti-Modi Front Shows Cracks Even Before Taking Shape

Even some opposition parties are working hard to bring every anti BJP leader on a stage to pick up Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but one common reason is obviously missing. It has become clear before Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony.

The top opposition leader is participating in the swearing in of Kumaraswamy: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress national president Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu (who recently quit BJP ), Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.

Most of these leaders who took part in the swearing in of Kumaraswamy inspire many compulsions. Some of them are battling to survive on their home grounds. While the Congress has defeated the BJP and has pulled itself at the level of the regional party, many others have lost their political power and there is some understanding that they will soon be there.

Kejriwal is facing the rivalry of ruling BJP in the center, Naidu is concerned about losing Andhra Pradesh to YSRCP and BJP (if they make the coalition). Mayawati's BSP has recently been reduced to the level of unimportance in Uttar Pradesh, while the Samajwadi party of Akhilesh Yadav is also out of power. The only exception being Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, who are clearly looking for opportunities to lead the coalition in 2019 and keep the BJP in her state.

However, three important leaders have missed the performance of the Opposition of the Opportunity of the Opportunity. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray have decided against participating in the swearing in of Kumaraswamy. His absence on the United Opposition platform can not be easily ignored.

Of the three leaders, KCR and Patnaik are the most popular and powerful statesmen in their respective states. In Maharashtra, Thackeray's Shivsena is a BJP ally and decides its way of winning the majority seat in next year's elections, where Congress will be considered as one of the main rivals.

In Karnataka, the Kavi Rivals Congress and JD (S) have presented a formula for opposition unity that can be replicated somewhere else. But this is nothing but KCR wants. Telangana is advocating for the federal forum of the BJP and the Congress. In Odisha, Patnaik has no visual and imminent threat from the BJP and is being seen in the Congress company, he would not want to send a misleading message to the house.

Rival parties can come together to collect a common enemy, but political observers believe that fundamental differences in their approach towards issues ultimately separate them. It has happened in the past. The most recent example is the Grand Alliance break-up in Bihar when the JD (U) -RJD-Congress partnership failed to last for more than two years. In the present situation, the differences are visible even before the beginning
